This chocolate tiramisu recipe is a quick coffee-flavored dessert that takes just 10 minutes to prepare. This smaller version on the famous dessert, served in jars, is a terrific way to use up leftover cake or mascarpone.

Any aspiring chef needs at least one simple dessert recipe to fall back on, and although I normally avoid making things that I can’t trust myself not to consume in seconds, this fast chocolate tiramisu recipe is just too amazing not to share.

Many food purists may scoff at what I’m about to say, but unlike many other recipes, it can be prepared with single cream instead of double cream, giving you a (little) healthier version. The taste will remain fantastic.

Furthermore, if your chocolate cake incorporates gluten-free flour, it creates an excellent gluten-free version of tiramisu.

I’m a sucker for coffee-flavored treats but despise anything that takes more than 20-30 minutes to prepare. So this just checks all the boxes for a lazy chef like myself.

It’s finished with chocolate cake and cocoa. As an extra plus, it is egg and alcohol-free, which should broaden your potential audience among some of your pals who have more stringent dietary needs.

  • 1cupcooled coffee
  • leftover or store-bought chocolate cake
  • 1cupmascarpone cheese
  • 2 cupsheavy cream
  • cupicing sugar
  • tspvanilla extract
  • cocoa powder for dusting


  • In a large mixing bowl, add heavy cream and mascarpone cheese.
  • While beating, gradually add icing sugar, followed by a cup of coffee and vanilla essence. Whisk together until a soft peak forms.
  • Refrigerate the bowl after wrapping it in plastic wrap.
  • Crumbled chocolate cake should cover the bottom of your jars. With a spoon, press the cake into the jar bases. Pour the remaining cup of coffee over the cake.
  • Spread a thick layer of the cream, mascarpone, and coffee mixture over the cake.
  • Refrigerate your tiramisu jars for at least 30 minutes before serving, dusted with cocoa powder.
